How to find the serial number:
With the ignition on and the radio off, hold button 6 for several seconds — later units display the pre-code.
Otherwise remove the unit and read the PRE-CODE line on the label.
Disconnect the battery before unplugging the harness in a van with aftermarket wiring.

Trafic II (2001–2014): single-DIN unit in the upper dash pod. Two U-shaped keys release it, but the surround is tight — take the trim ring off first.

Vauxhall Vivaro and Nissan NV300 of the same era share this hardware, so Trafic instructions usually transfer.
Before refitting, check the earth strap and battery terminals — a Trafic that locks its radio every few weeks has a supply problem, not a radio problem.
Why vans lock out more than cars
A Trafic spends its life having the battery pulled for racking, ply lining, beacon wiring, tracker fitting and winter lay-ups. Every one of those disconnections drops the radio back to its code prompt, which is why van radios lock out far more often than car radios do.

Getting the unit out of the dash
Most Trafic units release on two U-shaped keys pushed fully home into the side slots. Later vans have the radio behind a clipped surround with two Torx screws. Check above the unit for a cubby with a screw in the base before you pull anything.
Van dashboards take more abuse than car dashboards and the clips are usually already tired, so work around the edge steadily with a trim tool rather than forcing one corner.
