How to find the serial number:

Worth knowing:
Mk6 (2002–2008): typically a 6000CD single-DIN unit. Hold buttons 1 and 6 with the ignition on and the serial starting with V or M scrolls across the display.
Mk7 (2008–2017): 6000CD with the keypad fascia, or a Sony unit on higher trims. The same 1 and 6 hold usually works; on some Sony units it is 3 and 6.
Mk8 (2017 on): most cars run SYNC 3 touchscreens, which do not use a classic radio code at all. If yours is asking for one, it is likely an earlier-spec unit or an aftermarket replacement.

Which Fiesta you have matters
Mk5 and Mk6 cars from 2002 to 2008 carry the 6000CD or the basic Ford Audio unit. The 6000CD displays its serial with the 1-and-6 hold; the basic unit generally does not and has to come out. Mk7 from 2008 brings the Sony-badged units, where 1 and 6 usually works and 3 and 6 covers the rest.
Mk8 from 2017 uses SYNC 3, which is tied to the vehicle. If a battery change left a Mk8 asking for a four-digit code, the unit has been changed at some point for an older one.
Pulling a Fiesta unit
Four Ford keys, pushed fully home into the corner slots until they click, then a small outward spread and a straight pull. On the Mk7 the fascia surround is clipped and can stay in place — you do not need to strip the dash to get a Fiesta radio out.
The label is on the top of the casing. Photograph it, and take particular care with V against 5 and M against H, which are the two misreads that cause a rejected code.
