A Ford Fiesta radio asks for its security code after the head unit loses its permanent live feed — a flat battery, a battery change, a jump start or the radio being unplugged. The code is held against the serial number of that head unit, not against the registration or VIN. Fitted units: Ford 6000CD, Sony CD/DAB, SYNC 1. Turn the ignition to position II so the radio powers up. Once you have the serial, enter it in the radio code finder on this page.

Radio codes belong to the head unit serial number, not the vehicle registration or VIN.

A flat battery, battery replacement or radio removal is what triggers the code prompt.

Covers Ford Fiesta 2002 to present (Mk6, Mk7, Mk8).

Bob's never displays a guessed or generated code — if a working code can't be retrieved you get a full refund.

2002 to present (Mk6, Mk7, Mk8). Ford 6000CD, Sony CD/DAB, SYNC 1

How to find the serial number:

Turn the ignition to position II so the radio powers up.

Press and hold preset 1 and preset 6 together for around five seconds.

The display cycles the unit type, then the serial — note it exactly, including the leading letter.

If nothing appears, remove the unit and read the white label on the casing.

How to key the code in:

Presets 1 to 4 set the four digits.

Hold preset 5 to submit.

CODE OK confirms it — the radio then plays normally.

Worth knowing:

Mk6 (2002–2008): typically a 6000CD single-DIN unit. Hold buttons 1 and 6 with the ignition on and the serial starting with V or M scrolls across the display.

Mk7 (2008–2017): 6000CD with the keypad fascia, or a Sony unit on higher trims. The same 1 and 6 hold usually works; on some Sony units it is 3 and 6.

Mk8 (2017 on): most cars run SYNC 3 touchscreens, which do not use a classic radio code at all. If yours is asking for one, it is likely an earlier-spec unit or an aftermarket replacement.

Fiesta radios sit behind the centre vent stack. If you do need to pull it, four Ford radio keys go into the corner slots until they click.

Does a Mk8 Fiesta need a radio code? Generally no. SYNC 3 systems are tied to the vehicle rather than protected with a four-digit audio code, so a flat battery does not lock them out.

My Fiesta shows LOCKED after a jump start Too many wrong attempts have been made. Leave the ignition on with the radio powered for 30–60 minutes and it should return to the CODE prompt.

Can I get the code from the Fiesta's registration? No. Ford codes belong to the head unit serial, not the car.
