A Nissan Qashqai radio asks for its security code after the head unit loses its permanent live feed — a flat battery, a battery change, a jump start or the radio being unplugged. The code is held against the serial number of that head unit, not against the registration or VIN. Fitted units: Bosch, Clarion, NissanConnect. Check the service history wallet for a recorded code. Once you have the serial, enter it in the radio code finder on this page.
Radio codes belong to the head unit serial number, not the vehicle registration or VIN.
A flat battery, battery replacement or radio removal is what triggers the code prompt.
Covers Nissan Qashqai 2007 to present (J10, J11).
Bob's never displays a guessed or generated code — if a working code can't be retrieved you get a full refund.
2007 to present (J10, J11). Bosch, Clarion, NissanConnect
How to find the serial number:
Check the service history wallet for a recorded code.
Unclip the vent surround carefully.
Undo the four screws and draw the unit out.
Read the serial from the label on the top of the casing.
How to key the code in:
Presets 1 to 4 set the digits.
Confirm with ENTER or preset 5.
Stop after a rejected attempt and re-check the serial.
Worth knowing:
J10 (2007–2013): Bosch or Clarion units with a BP or PP serial on the label.
J11 (2014 on): NissanConnect systems on most trims, vehicle-coded rather than audio-locked.
The trim around the vents unclips by hand — use a plastic trim tool to avoid snapping clips.
Four screws release the unit once the surround is off.
Does NissanConnect need a radio code? No. Touchscreen NissanConnect systems are coded to the vehicle, so a battery change does not lock them behind a four-digit code.
Where is the serial on a Qashqai radio? On the casing label, usually starting BP or PP. It is not shown on screen, so the unit has to come out.
My Qashqai radio says LOC It has locked out after failed attempts. Keep the ignition on and let the timer run down before trying again.
