A Nissan Micra radio asks for its security code after the head unit loses its permanent live feed — a flat battery, a battery change, a jump start or the radio being unplugged. The code is held against the serial number of that head unit, not against the registration or VIN. Fitted units: Clarion, Bosch, Renault-alliance units. Check the handbook wallet — Nissan dealers frequently recorded the code. Once you have the serial, enter it in the radio code finder on this page.

Radio codes belong to the head unit serial number, not the vehicle registration or VIN.

A flat battery, battery replacement or radio removal is what triggers the code prompt.

Covers Nissan Micra 2002 to present (K12, K13, K14).

Bob's never displays a guessed or generated code — if a working code can't be retrieved you get a full refund.

2002 to present (K12, K13, K14). Clarion, Bosch, Renault-alliance units

How to find the serial number:

Check the handbook wallet — Nissan dealers frequently recorded the code.

Remove the trim surround and unbolt the unit.

Read the label: a long PP/BP serial means Clarion, a PRE-CODE line means Renault-style.

Note the label wording as well as the number so the right method is used.

How to key the code in:

Presets 1 to 4 set each digit.

On rotary units, turn to select and press to advance.

Confirm with ENTER, OK or preset 5 depending on the unit.

Worth knowing:

K12 (2002–2010): Clarion units, serial usually starting PP or BP on the casing label.

K13 (2010–2016): mixed hardware — some units carry a Renault-style PRE-CODE line.

K14 (2017 on): Renault-alliance platform, so the pre-code method usually applies.

The Micra fascia surround unclips by hand; the unit is then held by four screws.

Does my Micra use a Renault pre-code? Later K13 and K14 Micras share Renault-alliance hardware. If the casing label shows a PRE-CODE line rather than a long serial, follow the Renault method.

Do I have to take the radio out? Usually yes on a Micra — the serial is not shown on screen.

Is the code stored in the car? No. It belongs to the head unit, which is why the unit's own label matters.
