Stage 1 is software only — safe on a stock car. Stage 2 needs hardware upgrades (intake, exhaust, intercooler) to support the extra power.
The "Stage" labels are tuner shorthand. They mean very different things for cost, reliability and warranty.
Can I add Stage 2 later? — Yes — many owners start with Stage 1, then add hardware and re-map to Stage 2 later.
Does Stage 2 hurt the engine? — Done properly with the right supporting mods, no. Done lazily on a stock engine, eventually yes.
