Skoda uses the VW Group indirect TPMS on most models — inflate to the door placard, then store the new baseline with SET in the infotainment. No long drive cycle needed.
Why the Skoda tyre pressure light is on
Skoda's indirect system watches the ABS wheel-speed sensors: a softer tyre has a smaller rolling radius so it turns more often per mile, and the car flags it. Because the baseline is stored when you press SET, a cold snap that drops all four tyres by 3–4 PSI will also trigger the light even though no tyre is punctured.
Skoda tyre pressure light reset — step by step
- Set all four tyres cold to the values printed on the inside of the fuel filler flap or the driver's door pillar.
- Switch the ignition ON without starting the engine.
- On Octavia Mk3/Mk4, Superb Mk3, Kodiaq, Karoq, Kamiq, Scala, Fabia Mk4: Menu → Vehicle → Tyre Pressure Monitoring → SET / Confirm tyre pressures.
- On older Fabia Mk2/Mk3 and Roomster with a physical button: press and hold the TPMS/SET button (dash or centre console) for around 3 seconds until you hear a beep.
- The light normally goes out straight away — if not, drive a few minutes and it will clear.

If the light won't go off
If the light returns within a day or two of a SET, treat it as a genuine slow leak — the VW Group system is accurate. Check the valve core first (a £2 part causes most of these), then the bead and tread for nails. If pressures are spot on and the light stays, get the ABS sensors scanned: a failing ABS sensor upsets indirect TPMS.
What it costs
Reset is free and DIY. There are no wheel sensors to replace on the indirect system. If an ABS sensor is the culprit, budget £70–£140 fitted at an independent garage.

Do the SET on a cold car first thing in the morning, never after a motorway run. Set them warm and you'll be staring at the light again tomorrow when the tyres have cooled off.

Be straight about what a plug is: a get-you-home repair for small punctures in the central three-quarters of the tread. Never plug sidewall or shoulder damage, drive gently afterwards, and have the tyre inspected or replaced by a tyre specialist as soon as you can.
