Every wheel has a battery-powered sensor broadcasting live pressure. The light means a genuinely low tyre, a sensor whose battery has died (typical at 5–7 years), or wheels swapped over — winter sets and aftermarket alloys need their sensors programming to the vehicle before the car will read them.
Land Rover tyre pressure light reset — step by step
- Set all four tyres cold to the door-pillar placard pressures — note that Discovery and Range Rover list different figures for laden and unladen, and for on-road versus off-road use.
- Switch the ignition ON.
- On Discovery Sport, Evoque, Velar, Range Rover Sport and Range Rover (2013 onwards): touchscreen → Vehicle Settings → Tyre Pressure Monitoring → Reset / Store, then choose the correct pressure mode if prompted.
- On Freelander 2 and Discovery 4: the system relearns automatically — there is no manual reset button.
- Drive above 20mph for 10–15 minutes so every sensor transmits at least once.

If the light won't go off
A dashed line or blank instead of a pressure figure for one wheel means that sensor isn't transmitting at all — dead battery or damaged sensor, not a pressure problem. If you have just fitted a second set of wheels, the sensors need programming to the vehicle before it will read them.

If you run a winter wheel set on a Discovery Sport or Evoque, get sensors fitted and programmed into the second set. Swapping wheels twice a year with no sensors means living with a permanent TPMS light — and that is an MOT failure.
