Why the Fiat tyre pressure light is on
Fiat's system reads live pressure from a sensor in each wheel. The usual causes are a genuinely soft tyre, cold weather knocking a few PSI off all four, or a sensor battery that has expired after 5–7 years — very common on 500s that do low mileage but sit outside.
Fiat tyre pressure light reset — step by step
- Set all four tyres cold to the placard values on the driver's door pillar or inside the fuel flap.
- Turn the ignition ON without starting.
- On 500, 500X, Tipo and Panda with Uconnect: Menu → Settings → Safety & Driving Assistance → Tyre Pressure → Reset / Store.
- On models with the stalk-mounted MODE button and no touchscreen: press MODE to reach the TPMS display, then press and hold to reset.
- On Ducato and Doblo vans: ignition ON, then drive above 20mph for 20 minutes — the system relearns on the move.
- Drive above 20mph for 10–20 minutes to let all four sensors report in.

If the light won't go off
If the light stays on with correct pressures, a sensor has almost certainly failed. On the 500 the front sensors go first — road salt and short journeys are hard on them. A TPMS scan tool will identify the silent wheel in a couple of minutes.

Bob's workshop tip
Fiat 500s are the worst offenders for corroded alloy valve seats — the slow leak returns every couple of weeks no matter how many times you reset. Get the seat cleaned and a new seal fitted and the problem goes away for good.
