What a mechanic adds that a database never will
Automated reports tell you a flag exists. They will say "advisory: corrosion" and leave you to work out whether that is a £40 brake pipe or a welded sill that fails the next test. A car that fails on the same suspension component three tests apart has not had bad luck — it has had a cheap repair twice. Your report explains which faults are cheap, which are expensive on that specific vehicle, what to inspect when you view it, and what is fair to knock off the asking price.

Finance, write-offs, stolen markers and mileage
If a car is on hire purchase or PCP, the finance company owns it until the final payment clears, and a lender can lawfully recover it from you. A write-off means an insurer decided repair was not economic: Category A and B cars should never be back on the road, while Category S and N cars can be sound but are worth less and harder to insure. A stolen car remains the property of its rightful owner. Digital odometers can be wound back in minutes, but the sequence of readings taken at every MOT cannot, which is why the whole sequence is read rather than the latest number.
What an MOT history can and cannot tell you
It shows what a tester found on one day each year: failures, advisories and the mileage at the time, which is excellent for spotting clocking, corrosion progression and neglected wear items. It cannot show anything fixed or broken between tests, accident damage repaired without an insurance claim, engine, gearbox or clutch condition, or whether servicing was genuinely carried out.

Is the report instant? No. Every report is prepared by hand so you get a mechanic's interpretation rather than an automated printout, and it is emailed to you when complete.
Does a clean report mean the car is safe to buy? No report can promise that. A vehicle history report reduces risk by showing what has been recorded. It is not a physical inspection, it cannot reveal unrecorded damage or cash repairs, and it cannot guarantee future condition.
Is this a subscription? No. It is a single £19.99 payment for one registration.
What if no data exists for the registration? Some registrations return very little, especially new vehicles and imports. If we cannot produce a useful report, email us and we will refund you.
