Which Yaris units lock
Yaris models with the Fujitsu Ten, Panasonic or Pioneer CD head units show SEC, ANTI-THEFT or a row of dashes after the battery has been off. Cars with Toyota Touch and Touch 2 with Go are not audio-coded and simply reboot.
A hybrid Yaris that has stood for a long period is a frequent case — the 12v auxiliary battery goes flat well before the traction battery, and the radio locks as a result.
Removal on a Yaris
The centre section of the Yaris dash comes away as a single large panel. Remove the gear lever surround first so the lower clips release cleanly — forcing the panel while the bottom edge is still captive is how the mounting tabs get broken.
Four screws then hold the unit into the cage. The serial on the label is longer than most makes, so photograph it and check the leading characters carefully.
