How to find the serial number:
Ignition off. Press and hold presets 1 and 6.
While still holding, turn the ignition to accessory.
The serial appears, sometimes split across two displays — note both halves.
If nothing shows, the label on the casing carries the serial and the unit must come out.
How to key the code in:
Presets 1 to 6 each enter their own number.
Enter the digits in order — four or five depending on the unit.
Some units accept automatically, others need SEEK or ENTER.
Worth knowing:
2001–2008: single-DIN CD units. Hold presets 1 and 6 and switch the ignition on to display the serial.
2008–2015: CD/DAB units with the same trick on most builds, sometimes with the power button held too.
2015 on: touchscreen systems are not protected by a classic four-digit code.
Some Jazz units use a five-digit code entered on presets 1 to 6.
Look for the card before you touch the dash
Honda supplied the Jazz with a small anti-theft card carrying the radio code, and it lives in the handbook wallet, in the service book, or on a sticker inside the glovebox lid. On a one-owner car it is often still there, which saves you taking the radio out altogether.
On a used Jazz with several owners it has usually gone, and that is when the serial route matters. Some later Jazz units will also show the serial on screen by holding presets 1 and 6 with the ignition on.
Removing the unit
The Jazz dash is bolted rather than clipped: the panel around the radio and heater controls comes off on clips as one piece, then four Phillips or 8mm screws hold the unit in its cage.
Support the unit as the last screw comes out. The loom is short and the multiplug does not like taking the weight.
