A Fiat 500 radio asks for its security code after the head unit loses its permanent live feed — a flat battery, a battery change, a jump start or the radio being unplugged. The code is held against the serial number of that head unit, not against the registration or VIN. Fitted units: Blaupunkt CD, Continental units, Uconnect. Check the handbook wallet, service book and glovebox for a Fiat code card. Once you have the serial, enter it in the radio code finder on this page.

Radio codes belong to the head unit serial number, not the vehicle registration or VIN.

A flat battery, battery replacement or radio removal is what triggers the code prompt.

Covers Fiat 500 2007 to present (500, 500C, 500L variants).

Bob's never displays a guessed or generated code — if a working code can't be retrieved you get a full refund.

2007 to present (500, 500C, 500L variants). Blaupunkt CD, Continental units, Uconnect

How to find the serial number:

Check the handbook wallet, service book and glovebox for a Fiat code card.

If there is no card, the unit needs to come out — the serial is not displayed on screen.

Ease the dash surround away, then release the unit with the correct extraction keys.

Photograph the label, capturing both the supplier name and the full serial.

How to key the code in:

Use presets 1 to 4 to set each digit on Blaupunkt-based units.

On rotary units, turn to select and press to advance.

Confirm with the OK or MENU button.

Fiat units lock out quickly — treat every attempt as if it is your last.

Worth knowing:

Early 500s (2007–2013): Blaupunkt-supplied CD units with a BP-prefixed serial on the casing label.

Later 500s: Continental or Uconnect units — Uconnect touchscreens generally do not use a four-digit audio code.

Fiat commonly supplied a printed code card in the handbook wallet. Check there before removing anything.

The 500 head unit sits within the body-coloured dash panel; the surround must be eased out before the unit will clear, and the clips are brittle on older cars.

Does a Fiat 500 with Uconnect need a code? Generally no. Uconnect touchscreen systems do not use the classic four-digit radio security code.

Where does Fiat put the code card? Most often in the handbook wallet or the service book. Some cars had it tucked in the glovebox.

How many attempts does a 500 radio allow? Fiat units are less forgiving than most — commonly three before a timed lockout, so verify the serial before you start.
