AdBlue (also called DEF or urea) is a fluid injected into the diesel exhaust to break down NOx emissions. When the tank gets low, the warning light comes on with a countdown — typically '1,500 miles to no restart' followed by '500 miles' then '0 miles'. If you let it empty, the engine will refuse to start until refilled.
